Our much coveted Isles of Scilly Adventure is to and from Falmouth in Cornwall. From there we aim to make the passage westward around the Lizard Peninsula and out to the Scilly Isles. These enchanting islands are something really special. The stunning scenery and amazing marine wildlife are a real treat. We will plan to use our favourite anchorages between St Agnes and Gugh and between Tresco and Bryher. These provide easy access to the adjacent islands for their pristine beaches and for adventures ashore. Hopefully we’ll also get ashore on St Mary’s and St Martins but everything we do will be dependent on weather and tides. Usually we have a picnic or beach barbeque ashore during the trip. The surroundings are just splendid as are the sunrises and sunsets over the sea. This is one of our ‘bucket list’ destinations

Cruising on Pilgrim is a unique experience.

Not only will you have a superb sailing holiday, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels in the south west approaches. You will be able to assist the crew to sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner yet benefit from the modern guest facilities we have on board.

Throughout your Isles of Scilly Adventure you will be able to savour the amazing feeling of just being propelled by the wind in the sails. By the time Pilgrim arrives back in Falmouth over a week later, you will have friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. These sailings to the Scillies are always our most popular cruises of the season so don’t delay if you want to go.

Boarding & briefing

Guests are asked to embark at 12noon. The skipper and crew will then run through the plans for the trip, get to understand guest preferences and give the essential safety briefing. Information on finding Pilgrim and on parking and transportation arrangements are in the Joining Instructions and on the website.

Plan for the Trip

This all depends on the wind, the weather and the tide. We will plan to make the passage to the islands as soon as is practical to give plenty of time to explore. We will also keep a close eye on the weather to time our return as best we can. During the crossing we will pass close to Wolf Rock Lighthouse and pods of dolphins often accompany us on our way. In the Isles of Scilly all anchorages involve beach landings from our inflatable dinghy.

Hands-on or sit back and relax

All of our guests are encouraged to help the crew sail the boat. They will show you the ropes and ask you to help. Alternatively, if you just want to enjoy the sailing and the scenery, you can sit back and leave it to others. Feedback from past guests suggests that those who get involved get the most enjoyment out of the day. Lifejackets are provided for all on board and are compulsory unless the skipper advises otherwise.

Food and beverages

You will start the trip with a brew and lunchtime snack followed by afternoon tea and a 2 course dinner in the evening. Each day we will serve breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Meals may vary or be missed when shore trips are organised. The menu will be dictated by the fresh ingredients we can source and the weather conditions and our situation from day-to-day. On the last morning we will just serve breakfast.

What to wear and bring

Even in summer it can still be cool out at sea so we suggest you bring warm layers and that all important sun hat. You should also come prepared with wet weather gear. Don’t forget your phone or camera to capture the stunning scenery and amazing wildlife. It is important to bring sun screen to protect yourself and if you think you might need it – consider a travel sickness remedy before you set off each day- just in case.
