This Cornwall and Devon Coasts and Harbours holiday cruise is an fabulous opportunity to explore the stunning southern coasts of both Cornwall and Devon. There is room for 10 passengers on this 5 day 4 night summer cruise from Falmouth in Cornwall to Brixham in Devon. It’s a fabulous way to have that special holiday break that all your friends will envy. We will visit picturesque anchorages and historic harbours while we sail eastward. The weather and tides will dictate what we do and where exactly we go. You will be sailing on our amazing fully restored Victorian sailing trawler built in 1895. She’s restored as original above deck and with comfy contemporary accommodation down below.

Cruising on Pilgrim is a unique experience.

Not only will you have a superb sailing holiday, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels. You will be able to assist the crew to sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner yet benefit from the modern guest facilities we have on board.

For your Cornwall and Devon Coasts and Harbours holiday we are spoilt for choice with places to visit. There are the sheltered waters of several river estuaries and we will likely visit Mevagissey or Fowey or Looe. From there our passage may include Plymouth Sound, Cawsands and the Mount Edgecombe estate. Sailing eastward we’ll have the opportunity to visit Salcombe or Dartmouth before finally arriving on the English Riviera in Torbay.

Wherever we go, you will be able to enjoy exhilarating sailing and soak up the fabulous scenery and the wonderful wildlife. Pilgrim provides a chance to see the stunning Cornish and Devon coasts in summer from a different perspective, in good company but away from the crowds and congestion.

Boarding & briefing

Guests are asked to embark at 12h00. The skipper and crew will then run through the plans for the trip, get to understand guest preferences and give the essential safety briefing. Information on finding Pilgrim and on parking and transportation arrangements are in the Joining Instructions and on the website.

Plan for the Trip

This all depends on the wind, the weather and the tide. We will be sailing out of Falmouth and will cruise along the southern Cornish and Devon coasts. We will anchor in quiet coves overnight or visit the delightful harbours and rivers along the way.

Hands-on or sit back and relax

All of our guests are encouraged to help the crew sail the boat. They will show you the ropes and ask you to help. Alternatively, if you just want to enjoy the sailing and the scenery, you can sit back and leave it to others. Feedback from past guests suggests that those who get involved get the most enjoyment out of the day. Lifejackets are provided for all on board and are compulsory unless the skipper advises otherwise.

Food and beverages

You will start the trip with a brew and lunchtime snack. We’ll follow that up with afternoon tea and a two course dinner. Each day we will serve breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The menu will be dictated by the fresh ingredients we can source and the weather conditions and our situation from day-to-day. On the last morning we will just serve breakfast

What to wear and bring

Even in summer it can still be cool out at sea so we suggest you bring extra warm layers and maybe a hat. You should also come prepared with wet weather gear. Don’t forget your phone or camera to capture the stunning scenery and amazing wildlife. It is important to bring sun screen to protect yourself and if you think you might need it – consider a travel sickness remedy before you set off each day- just in case.
