Torbay Afternoon Sailing Adventure
Get out in the fresh sea air with our Torbay Afternoon Sailing Adventure. This trip is listed for whole boat charter for 8 people and is ideal for multi-generational groups of family and friends. We will take you out from Brixham in the delightfully sheltered waters of Torbay in Devon – it’s stunning. You can shake off all those weeks of lockdown and enjoy the amazing scenery, the marine wildlife and simply being out in the elements. Why sit on a crowded beach when you can have a unique sailing experience?
Sailing on Pilgrim is a unique and exhilarating experience
Not only will you have a superb time sailing our 125 year old Brixham trawler, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels. You will be able to watch the crew sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner.
Your sailing will start and end in the historic fishing port of Brixham at the southern end of Torbay. Brixham is often referred to as the ‘mother of trawling’ as it was at the heart of the development of the sailing trawler and is still England’s most productive fishing port to this day. It is bustling now, as it was then, and the harbour is still characterised by quaint colourful fishermen’s cottages and scores of fishing boats.
What will we see?
As soon as your Torbay Afternoon Sailing Adventure gets underway, you will pass the Brixham breakwater lighthouse and be able to savour the delights of the coastline with all the resorts spread out around you. It’s known as the English Riviera with good reason. You will see the local coves together with Broadsands and Goodrington beaches sweeping round to Paignton Pier and with vistas across to Torquay. The climate is mild, the sunshine record is coveted and the scenery is breathtaking. Whether we just stay in the bay or go a bit further out, you will be able to appreciate the amazing feeling of just being propelled by the wind in the sails. There’s nothing quite like it!
