Halloween Overnight Sailing Experience
Our Halloween Overnight Sailing Experience is quite spooky! It’s a different way to discover the end of life on board a heritage sailing vessel and to the explore the nightime antics on the South Devon coastline. It’s an ideal experience to prepare for a longer voyage if you can face it! We’ll be sailing with a skeleton crew and we depart Saturday lunchtime and sail off for an overnight stay at anchor or in a haunted local harbour. If you can stomach it, a freshly cooked dinner is included together with breakfast on Sunday morning. Once every body has been recovered and is stowed we can set off to be back by lunchtime.
Sailing on Pilgrim is a unique and exhilarating experience.
Not only will you have a superb experience sailing our 126 year old Brixham trawler, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels. You will be able to assist the crew to sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner yet benefit from the modern guest facilities we have on board.
Your Halloween Overnight Sailing Experience will start and end in the historic fishing port of Brixham at the southern end of Torbay. Brixham is often referred to as the ‘mother of trawling’ as it was at the heart of the development of the sailing trawler and is still England’s most productive fishing port to this day. It is bustling now, as it was then, and the harbour is still characterised by quaint colourful fishermen’s cottages and scores of fishing boats.
This sailing adventure will likely include Torbay, Lyme Bay and Start Bay which surround the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The climate is typically mild, the sunshine record is coveted and the scenery is breathtaking. Wherever we go you will be able to appreciate the amazing feeling of just being propelled by the wind in the sails. It’s Halloween and a unique experience, not to be missed!
