Family PicNdip Celebration Sailing
Our Family PicNdip Celebration Sailing is a great day out for the whole family. Put the lockdown behind you and celebrate! This is a charter option for 8 people. It’s ideal for a multi-generational outing for family and friends. Get your bubbles together for an exhilarating and entertaining day out with a difference!
We will sail out from historic Brixham into Torbay and along the stunning South Devon coastline. The plucky ones can shake off all those weeks of lazing around with a swim off the boat in a sheltered anchorage. In August the sea temperature is positively balmy! The rest can soak up the amazing scenery and marine wildlife. We’ll provide a picnic lunch and provide a commentary on everything we do and see. Why sit on a crowded beach when you can sail on a heritage sailing trawler in her 125th Anniversary year. That’s special!
Sailing on Pilgrim is a unique and exhilarating experience
Not only will you have a superb day out sailing our historic Brixham trawler, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels. You will be able to watch the crew sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner.
Your sailing will start and end in the historic fishing port of Brixham at the southern end of Torbay. Brixham is often referred to as the ‘mother of trawling’ as it was at the heart of the development of the sailing trawler and is still England’s most productive fishing port to this day. It is bustling now, as it was then, and the harbour is still characterised by quaint colourful fishermen’s cottages and scores of fishing boats.
Where will we go?
As soon as your Family PicNdip Celebration Sailing gets underway, you will be able to savour the delights of Torbay which is also known as the English Riviera. We may go out south into Start Bay and explore along the coast of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB) or go north along the coast in Lyme Bay towards Babbacombe, Anstey’s Cove and Teignmouth. The climate is mild, the sunshine record is coveted and the scenery is breathtaking. You will be able to ‘sea life’ from a new perspective and enjoy the amazing feeling of just being propelled by the wind in the sails. There really is nothing quite like it!
