Our Devon Weekend Sailing Experience is an ideal way to snatch a few extra days away sailing. We will be setting off from Brixham and exploring the delightful coastline, bays and estuaries of South Devon. You will get the chance to soak up the stunning scenery and experience exhilarating sailing on our beloved and fully restored heritage sailing trawler.
Sailing on Pilgrim is a unique experience. Not only will you have a great time sailing, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels. You will be able to assist the crew to sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner yet benefit from the modern guest facilities we have on board.
This 3 day, 2 night sailing adventure will likely feature an overnight stop in Dartmouth or another of the delightful South Devon ports.. If the weather is kind, we will also anchor overnight in secluded bays, coves or river estuaries. Weather permitting, will be cruising in Start Bay, Lyme Bay and Torbay which surround the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
We will have you back in Brixham by Sunday lunchtime. Brixham is often referred to as the ‘mother of trawling’ as it was at the heart of the development of the sailing trawler and is still England’s most productive fishing port to this day. It is bustling now, as it was then, and the harbour is still characterised by quaint colourful fishermen’s cottages and scores of fishing boats.
Wherever we go on our Devon Weekend Sailing Experience, you will be able to appreciate the scenery, the wonderful wildlife and the amazing feeling of just being propelled by the wind in the sails. That’s really special!
