Devon Heritage Sailing Adventure
Our Devon Heritage Sailing Adventure is ideal for a summer short break. We’ll be exploring the delightful coastline, bays and estuaries of South Devon. You will get the chance to soak up the stunning scenery and experience exhilarating sailing on our beloved and fully restored heritage sailing trawler. We have room for 10 passengers to become crew members for this summer idyll. So, come alone, bring a partner, the whole family or charter Pilgrim for your group.
Sailing on Pilgrim is a unique experience
Not only will you have a great time sailing, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels. You will be able to assist the crew to sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner yet benefit from the modern guest facilities we have on board.
Your sailing will start and end in the historic fishing port of Brixham at the southern end of Torbay. Brixham is often referred to as the ‘mother of trawling’ as it was at the heart of the development of the sailing trawler and is still England’s most productive fishing port to this day. It is bustling now, as it was then, and the harbour is still characterised by quaint colourful fishermen’s cottages and scores of fishing boats.
Where will we go?
This 3 day, 2 night Devon Heritage Sailing Adventure will likely include Torbay, Lyme Bay and Start Bay which surround the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The climate on the English Riviera is typically mild, the sunshine record is coveted and the scenery is breathtaking. Wherever we go you will be able to appreciate the scenery, the wonderful wildlife and the amazing feeling of just being propelled by the wind in the sails. That’s really special!
