Our Dartmouth Day Sailing Experience is a great introduction to heritage vessels and to the stunning South Devon coastline. Your cruise provides a one day ‘taster’ of traditional sailing in the sheltered waters of Start Bay.
Sailing on Pilgrim is a unique and exhilarating experience. Not only will you have a superb day out sailing our 125 year old Brixham trawler, but you will see how Victorian fishermen handled these heavy and powerful vessels. You will be able to assist the crew to sail Pilgrim in the traditional manner yet benefit from the modern guest facilities we have on board.
Your sailing will start and end in the historic port of Dartmouth. It is one of the celebrated picturesque harbours on the South Devon coast and home to the Britannia Royal Naval College and centuries of seafaring history. The Pilgrim Fathers’ sailed from Dartmouth in 1620 and that 400th anniversary will be celebrated all year.
As soon as your Dartmouth Day Sailing Experience gets underway, you will be able to follow generations of mariners who have sailed out between the castles into Start Bay. Even in Autumn the climate is mild, the sunshine record is coveted and the scenery is breathtaking. Sailing on Pilgrim you will be able to appreciate the scenery, wildlife and the amazing feeling of just being propelled by the wind in the sails. There’s nothing quite like it!
