Insurance
We require you to take out insurance for your sailing on Pilgrim. That is to protect you, not us. The Pilgrim Foundation do not sell insurance and are not licensed to act as insurers or brokers. We provide links to selected independent insurers as a guest courtesy. You are free to choose your own supplier.
Day and Overnight Sailings
We recommend that all guests should have insurance to cover the unlikely event that there is an accident which causes personal injury. This is low-cost Personal Accident cover. Comprehensive travel cover for day or overnight sailings that include ‘adventure sailing’ is not easy to obtain or particularly affordable. Those policies typically cover longer periods of time. If you take out personal accident insurance you will not be covered for any cancellation risks. Please study the policy information and choose the level of cover you require.
Please note for day sailings cover is only required for ‘Sailing within 12 mile limit / coastal waters’

Short Breaks and Holidays
We recommend that all guests have comprehensive travel insurance for ‘Sailing more than 12 miles offshore’. This requirement still applies for coastal cruising as a passage from one port or anchorage to another on a sailing vessel may involve being more than 12 miles offshore. This type of cover should cover things like cancellation risks, medical expenses, repatriation and personal accident. Please study the policy information and choose the level of cover you require.
Please remember cover is required for ‘Sailing beyond 12 mile limit / coastal waters’’.
If you already have travel insurance please make sure it covers ‘sailing’ which is sometimes referred to as ‘Adventure Sailing’. Alternatively you may be able to get an ‘activity topup’ for a number of days.
